A boat-based marine eco-tour has been introduced by Ocean Adventurer in partnership with the Two Oceans Aquarium.
The tours depart daily at 11h00, 14h00 and 16h00 from the Robben Island ferry jetty at the V&A Waterfront, and focus on the rich biodiversity found in the waters of Cape Town’s Table Bay and surrounds.
The Ocean Adventurer vessel is equipped with an onboard microscope that is connected to two television screens. This enables guides to display images of the multitude of tiny organisms that live in Table Bay. Bigger creatures like birds, seals and penguins are seen daily, and dolphins, whales and sunfish are spotted regularly, depending on the season.
The boat has an adapted high-performance sailing catamaran hull, and allows for the minimum propulsion required to operate the boat, with an approximate 70% fuel saving compared with traditional charter boats.
The tour is approximately 90 minutes and tickets are R180 for adults and R90 for children.
